God protected me from an accident

Psalm 91:11, “11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.”

Recently I was reading a book by Jesse Duplantis titled Heaven: Encounters of the God kind. In one testimony, he wrote about an amazing life threatening experience which he had during his rebellious days of youth. Jesse was driving down the expressway at an alarming high speed when he lost control of his car and crashed into the side of the road. The car spun and flipped 3 times on the road while the driver’s door was ripped out and a protruding steel rod nearly pierced into the side of his body.

The supernatural part of it was while his car was twisting and spinning, he testified that he could feel someone grabbing his shoulder and pressing him down in his driving seat. There was a pressure holding him down. After his car crashed to a stop and ended up upside down, he could feel this pressure slowly being dissipated away. The car was literally smashed but he only suffered minor injuries. Later, he realized that it was God’s hand holding him down and protecting him from physical harm.

After reading his experience, I was brought into remembrance a similar personal encounter on the road a few years ago. I was driving down Queensway at around 9.30pm to meet my girl friend. There were barely any cars on the road that night. It was then when I noticed the construction of the new Alexandra fire station on the left hand side of the road had been completed. The building had a slick modern design which captured my attention. I did not realize that I had taken up a few more milliseconds than I should, admiring the building, while my car was actually swerving into the lane on my right. Suddenly I could feel a tingling sensation enveloping my entire right arm and pushed my hand to turn the steering wheel to the left. It was as if someone’s hand was guiding me. All this happened in the split of a second. At that instant, a car just sped pass the right side of my car barely missing my right side mirror. I could feel my heart palpitating the instant I realized what I nearly got myself into. I broke into cold sweat. As Jesse has described above, this sensation also slowly dissipated away from my arm after I got my bearings back. During that time, somehow I knew God was protecting me. It was after reading Jesse’s testimony years later that I realized my experience resonates with his. This has led to my affirmation of God’s protection over me during that time.
