I am from Philippines. When I first came over to Singapore, I worked at a jewellery retail outlet. I remembered my uncle asked me to contact his friend, Pastor Amos, when I am in Singapore. When I did, I ended up residing in His Harvest Church but due to the nature of my retail job where I am required to work on weekends, I could only attend church once or twice a month.
It was also difficult for me to take leave as and when there is an interview for a new job as we worked in shifts. Moreover if I was to resign, I would need to pay a certain sum of money for my bond. I did not like the arrangement and hence I prayed to God to lead my out of this job, Pastor Amos and other members of HHC also helped me pray for this.
In the meantime, I applied for jobs at various banks under the recommendation of my boyfriend. I did not receive any positive replies from the banks for a while until Bank C called me for an interview and I felt that the first interview went well. However, I did not receive any confirmation from the HR department after the first interview. I did receive some unknown calls and when I tried to trace the call back hoping it was Bank C’s HR department, the line never got through.
Although I was discouraged, I held on to my faith that God will help me. True enough after 6 months, Bank C called me again and accepted my application. In addition, they are willing to pay the bond of my retail job. The 6 months of waiting and unwavering faith was not easy to go through but God has been faithful. Praise God for His grace upon me!
