Generational blessings of God become a reality in my life

Genesis 17:6-7, “6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.”

My parents became Christians when I was three years old. I was raised as a Christian almost all my life. I always followed my parent’s instructions to attend church weekly and dressing my best for it. I even attended other midweek services and hardly missed any. I’ve been so used to going to church that I felt tired and bored of it, just as if it was a chore and took it for granted.

I became envious of non-believers because I thought they had more freedom. I thought that once they were saved, they could easily feel God’s presence and goodness since they have never felt it before.

During university, I moved to a different city and stayed with an uncle and auntie who were both Christians. They were the spiritual mentors of my parents to be exact. Living with them for over two years, I saw how much they loved God. They unfailingly attended church service every Sunday, joined bible study classes and hosted cell group gatherings weekly. They continually served Him and by that blessed others. Being with them, I saw God through them. I saw their passion for God and in return how God has prospered them.

This made me realize how blessed I am. God indeed keeps his word. As he said in Deuteronomy 7:9, “9 “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments …” I am a second generation Christian, and because of my parent’s faithfulness to God I have always been blessed. I was able to study abroad and I remained faithful to Him and am now serving in the worship ministry today.
