I remembered this testimony that Pastor shared with me during one of the gatherings a couple of years ago. He spoke of the plight of this middle aged woman. She was around 40 years old, married with 2 young kids but her husband abandoned them and left with another woman. Unfortunately, this woman was later retrenched and she was left helpless with her 2 children. At her age, it was difficult for her to find another job with her low educational qualification and the pressure of supporting the family was piling up upon her. Her savings were depleting fast and she was very worried what the future holds for the family. This was what happened:
There was this particular evening when her children were hungry and were crying out for food. There was no food left in the house. She thought of buying some for them despite knowing that she might not find any money in the house. Nevertheless she tried to look and search around. As the children began to get impatient, they wailed louder and louder while she got more and more frantic when there was no money to be found. She had a bad day and the whole situation coupled with the burden she had been carrying was almost driving her mad. Out of desperation, she dropped on her knees and cried out to God for help. Although she came from a Christian family background, she has never really known who Jesus was. Nevertheless, she remembered how people prayed. She made a sincere, heart felt and simple prayer in her own dialect language, “God help me!” and left there sobbing helplessly, tears streaking down her cheeks.
A few moments later, her door bell rang. She wiped her tears, got up and opened the door. There she saw a young Malay girl standing outside her gate holding a tray of barbequed food in her hands.
“Auntie, we were having barbeque below the block and we could not finish the food. I thought of you and decided to ask if you would like to have them. I hope you do not mind that these are leftovers though,” the girl said.
“That is so kind of you,” the woman replied, “I do not mind actually, thank you very much”.
Then she opened the gate, took the tray of food and closed the door. Tears of gratitude welled up in her eyes. She knew that God has answered her prayer and done a supernatural thing in her life. She thanked God with all her heart for His mercy and grace.
The story ends here and I do not know what happened to the lady thereafter. However this testimony has clearly shown the mercy and grace of God upon those who called out to Him out of the abundance of their hearts. Praise God!
